TRIGGERED by the HORRENDOUS Turbo-folk scene’S CHARACTERS in my home country, Serbia, I couldn’t help but reflect on the painfully obvious truth that no matter how many layers of makeup you slap on, at the end of the day, the beast remains. It’s all too fitting for the ongoing situation where specific figures from the entertainment industry have created their aesthetic aligned with their ethics and morals. These characters, who’ve built their careers on aligning with the CORRUPT establishment and the criminal underbelly of Serbia, are desperately trying to keep the truth buried. Still, you can only paint over corruption for so long before it starts to peel away. Hopefully, they will finish in the bin too. ¶ MAKEUP BY MINA ABRAMOVIĆ.
